Swinton give new contracts to outside-backs

Outside-backs Deane Meadows and Joe Digby have put pen to paper on new one-year deals with Swinton.

Meadows, 25, arrived at the Lions in August after representing the North West England Lionhearts on a tour of Jamaica.

Digby, 20, joined Swinton ahead of the 2019 season from amateur club Leigh Miners Rangers – but failed to make an appearance after sustaining a shoulder injury in pre-season training.

Swinton coach Stuart Littler said: “Deane signed late in the year and was unfortunate not to get a start in the seventeen. He was close on numerous occasions and I know it is a personal goal of his to get into our team for next year.

“Deane pushes his body training on his own as well as in our team environment. The pre-season schedule will allow us to get that education into Deane so he is well aware of all systems and structures.

“Joe did not get any game time last year due to an unfortunate shoulder injury during pre-season.

“But Joe is now nearing full fitness so will be looking for an impressive pre-season. We are all looking forward to seeing him out on the pitch and seeing just exactly what he can do.”
