Swinton full-back Ben Heyes has signed a new deal with the club for the 2021 campaign.

The 21-year-old joined the Lions from Thatto Heath Crusaders last year and played one game for the club before the Championship season was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Heyes said: “I’m delighted to once again sign with Swinton and hopefully to be soon getting back to playing rugby and competing again after the abrupt end to the season.

“The staff and the players have always been great to me during my time at the club, and I am once again looking forward to working with them and continuing to develop my career.”

Swinton coach Stuart Littler said: “It’s great news to have agreed a deal to keep Ben on board with us in 2021.

“Ben is an exciting talent who really does have the potential to have a big impact on our team.

“He came to us from the successful Thatto Heath club having represented England at amateur level against the New Zealand test team.

“Ben has been on a bit of a learning curve with us as he transitions into the professional game, but what he does possess is natural pace and that cannot be manufactured.

“He’s gaining confidence in both his position and his standing within our environment. He continues to strive to become the best he can be and we fully intend to support him in achieving all of his aims and goals.”
