Swinton have signed Widnes winger Owen Buckley on a two-week loan deal.

The 22-year-old is in contention to make his debut for the Lions in Sunday’s clash with Sheffield.

Buckley has scored 10 tries in 15 appearances since making his first team debut for the Vikings in 2018.

Elsewhere in the Championship, hooker Corey Johnson, who retired from rugby league last year, has re-signed for Leeds and been loaned out to Championship side York alongside team-mate Corey Hall.

Johnson, 20, made his Super League debut in Leeds’ final match of 2019 and was midway through a four-year deal when he decided to retire and focus on a career outside of the game. England Academy centre Hall, 18, made his Leeds debut against Catalans last year and adds competition to the outside backs for York.

Bradford have extended the loan deal of half-back Joe Keyes from Hull KR on a week-by-week basis. The 25-year-old started his career at London Broncos before enjoying four seasons with Bradford prior to his move to Hull KR.

Former Leeds coach Brian McDermott is back in rugby league after joining Oldham as coaching consultant. He has filled the void at the Roughyeds created by the departure of Matt Diskin.

London Broncos coach Danny Ward has left the club with immediate effect. The 41-year-old was out of contract at the end of the season and had informed the club of his intention to move on, with both parties then deciding to part company immediately.

Batley have signed Jamaica international Greg Johnson for the rest of the 2021 season. The 31-year-old winger has most recently played for Bradford but spent six seasons at Salford in Super League between 2014-19, scoring 50 tries in 106 games for the Red Devils. He was won three caps for Jamaica and will be hoping to represent the Reggae Warriors at the Rugby League World Cup this autumn.
