Swinton Lions are delighted to announce that Richard Heyes has accepted a unanimous invitation to join the Board of Directors of the Club.

He will take up his duties with immediate effect as Head of Communications & Media to join Chairman Andy Mazey, Operations Director Steve Wild, Commercial Director Peter Smith and Directors Alan Marshall, David Jones and Steve Moyes who is representing the Supporters Trust on the Board.

Richard 45, is the managing director of leading Manchester SEO agency Tecmark, and a prominent supporter of the game of rugby league at all levels and brings a wealth of experience to the role.

Richard will also become a sponsor of the club for 2018 season and details of this will be released in a further announcement in due course.

Chairman Andy Mazey said:” Richard is someone who I identified who could add value to our professional management structure that we are building at Swinton Lions. He is well respected in business and in the game by those who know him and also someone I’m proud to call a friend. He is a great bloke with a great family and is a real fit to our ambitious sustainable way of thinking and I know he is excited by the challenge and his values are very much inline those of myself and of our Board.

“When I suggested inviting him onto the Board the directors they were unanimous in their support. We have always stated we want to build this club for the future and by adding quality, proven business people in particular those that have professional skill sets in critical areas which we need to develop and move forward will enable this to happen.

“Rick will bring his own ideas and business acumen and we are delighted to welcome him to the Lions family.

Richard said: “I am really proud and exited to be joining Swinton Lions, and I’m really looking forward to the journey ahead. The fantastic response and passion demonstrated from the fans earlier in the season, to help save the club convinced me that this is a club I would like to get involved with, initially as a sponsor and now with the honour of joining the board. I am completely behind the approach Andy and the board are taking by building a sustainable club first and foremost, but with big ambitions for the future.”
