There were a number of excellent games in the Super 8s and The Qualifiers on the weekend.

Warrington Wolves bounced back from their Wembley hangover just five days later with a riveting 80-10 victory against Hull FC. Tyrone Roberts was superb for the Wolves, but Bryson Goodwin scored five tries and was voted Love Rugby League’s starman. Warrington scored 14 tries in an ultra-controlling display.

Wigan Warriors went five points clear in second as they put in a dominating display to crush rivals St Helens 30-10 at the Totally Wicked Stadium. Dan Sarginson scored twice for the Cherry and Whites, while Joe Greenwood had his best game yet for Wigan.

Wakefield Trinity scored 36 unanswered points in the second half as they beat Huddersfield Giants 42-16 at the John Smith’s Stadium. Tom Johnstone, Aaron Murphy, Ryan Hampshire, Scott Grix (2), Ben Jones-Bishop and Jacob Miller all scored for Trinity.

Greg Eden scored a hat-trick to guide Castleford Tigers to a comprehensive 36-4 win over Catalans Dragons at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle. Michael Shenton, Jake Trueman and Oliver Holmes scored Castleford’s other tries.

Danny McGuire put in a masterclass performance to help Hull Kingston Rovers pull off a crucial 38-36 win against his former club Leeds Rhinos at Emerald Headingley. Craig Hall racked up a tally of 22 points, having scored a hat-trick and five goals.

Toronto Wolfpack won their second game of The Qualifiers as they ran-out 34-22 winners against London Broncos at Lamport Stadium. The Canadian side led 20-0 at the break, and a spirited fightback by the Broncos wasn’t enough. Both teams finished with 12 men after Jarrod Sammut and Richard Whiting were sin-binned.

Widnes Vikings are on the verge of being relegated to the Championship after suffering a 42-22 defeat to Championship side Toulouse Olympique in France. France international Mark Kheirallah had a 22-point haul, having scored two tries and seven goals. The Vikings have lost all three games in The Qualifiers.

A hat-trick from Derrell Olpherts helped Salford Red Devils claim their third straight win in The Qualifiers with a 62-4 rout over Halifax at The MBi Shay. Jackson Hastings put in another dazzling performance for the Red Devils. Salford now sit top of The Qualifiers’ table.
