Jai Field and Tom Johnstone both had impressive individual performances in Wigan’s and Wakefield’s Super League wins respectively.

Field, 24, scored twice in his side’s 19-18 victory over Hull on Thursday night in the Super League. Harry Smith’s second drop-goal of the season secured the two league points, but Field had another strong game at the DW Stadium.

The Wigan full-back now leads the way with clean breaks (12) and metres (1126), while he has the second most carries (114) in the competition. He has also scored nine tries so far this season, the second most.

Johnstone, 26, impressed for Wakefield despite coming off at half-time during their victory over Salford. According to Super League stats, he made 12 carries, 12 busts and 160 metres in that 40 minutes. He also crossed for a try and assisted two more. He has now scored seven tries so far this season.

Johnstone didn’t come back on when the sides entered the field in the second half due to a stiff back.

However, Poching confirmed that it was a precautionary move, and expects his in-form winger to be fit to face Wigan in the Challenge Cup quarter-finals next Sunday.

Both Field and Johnstone also lead the way with tackle busts, with 34 and 33 respectively.

Two reach double figures of tries

Both Tommy Makinson and Ken Sio have scored 10 tries each so far this season. St Helens winger Makinson crossed twice in their 26-0 victory over Leeds at Headingley on Friday. Salford’s Sio also bagged a brace in their away defeat at Wakefield.

Hull’s Jake Connor leads the way with assists. The full-back has 12 to his name so far in 2022. Jack Welsby has 11, while Tui Lolohea has next best with 10. Josh Drinkwater and Tony Gigot both have nine.

Danny Houghton continues to do what he does best and leads the way with most tackles. He now has 300 so far in 2022. Hooker Andy Ackers has 278, and Sam Powell has made 276.

Innes Senior has made the most carries with 115.

Marc Sneyd has converted the most goals with 24, while Wigan youngster Smith became the first player to kick their second drop-goal of the season so far.
