Super League round-up: Wakefield edge St Helens, Warrington six in six, Salford win away

The result of the weekend came from Wakefield Trinity.

Hull FC put in a clinical second half display to ease past a youthful Widnes side 39-20 at the Halton Stadium on Thursday night. Josh Griffin put in a man of the match performance for the Black and Whites, scoring two tries.

Sam Tomkins added a late drop-goal to hand Wigan Warriors their first win at Leeds Rhinos since 2012. The Warriors sealed a 9-8 win in dramatic fashion at Emerald Headingley on Friday.

Warrington Wolves made it six wins on the spin as they beat Hull Kingston Rovers 40-26 at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Saturday. The Wolves were 22-2 ahead at the break, but survived a Hull KR comeback in the second half. England star Stefan Ratchford scored 16 points for Warrington.

Salford Red Devils secured their first away win of the season as they scored five tries to beat Huddersfield Giants 30-12 at the John Smith’s Stadium. Jake Bibby bagged a brace for the Red Devils.

The result of the weekend came from Wakefield Trinity. They edged past league leaders St Helens 24-20 at the Mobile Rocket Stadium on Sunday. Wakefield are only the second team to beat Saints this season.

Castleford Tigers thrashed bottom-placed Catalans Dragons 41-0 at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle on Sunday. England half-back Luke Gale was a standout and grabbed two assists as well as racking up a tally of 13 points.
