Super League round-up: Salford table toppers, St Helens leave it late, Catalans win in France

Salford sit top of the Super League ladder after round two.

Salford Red Devils sit top of the Super League table after running out 24-0 winners over London Broncos at the AJ Bell Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Niall Evalds, Ken Sio, Jackson Hastings and Josh Jones all scored for the Red Devils.

George Williams put in a fine display to help Wigan Warriors claim their first win of the season as they beat Leeds Rhinos 34-16 at home.

Williams, Ben Flower, Joe Greenwood, Joe Bullock and Liam Farrell all bagged tries for the Warriors.

Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook scored try with just two minutes remaining to snatch a 24-18 win for St Helens over Wakefield Trinity at the Mobile Rocket Stadium.

Morgan Knowles, Tommy Makinson (2) and Regan Grace scored Saints’ other tries.

Catalans Dragons bounced back from their opening round defeat at Castleford Tigers as they eased past Huddersfield Giants 27-10 at the Stade Gilbert Brutus.

Sam Tomkins played a starring role in the game, scoring a try and kicking five goals. Fiji international Brayden Wiliame bagged a brace and Lewis Tierney also went over.

Warrington Wolves put in a solid performance to beat Hull KR 28-14 and maintain their winning start to the Super League season.

Harvey Livett scored twice for the Wolves, while Tom Lineham, Josh Charnley and Mike Cooper also crossed the whitewash for Steve Price’s side.

Castleford Tigers made it two wins from two to start the new campaign with a 26-18 win against Hull FC at the KCOM Stadium.

Michael Shenton scored two tries for the Tigers, with Jesse Sene-Lefao, Joe Westerman and James Clare also got on the scoresheet for Daryl Powell’s outfit.
