Super League: Leeds lose at Cas, big win for Wigan & Hull KR edge Toulouse

The Easter Monday games in Super League certainly didn’t disappoint, with a couple of matches going right down to the wire.

Castleford edged past Leeds 16-14 in a West Yorkshire derby at the Jungle. James Clare, Derrell Olpherts and Liam Watts went over for the Tigers. Jack Sinfield, son of Kevin, made his first team debut for Leeds.

Rhyse Martin scored two tries and kicked three goals for the Rhinos.

Champions St Helens produced a professional display to win 24-12 at Huddersfield in what was a tight content until Jonny Lomax’s try five minutes from the end. Jon Bennison, Mark Percival and Joe Batchelor also scored for the Saints.

Ashton Golding and Tui Lolohea went over for the Giants.

Catalans Dragons won comfortably 36-10 at Salford. Mathieu Laguerre, Tom Davies, Mitchell Pearce (2), Matt Whitley and Sam Kasiano went over the French side.

Deon Cross and Ken Sio scored for the Red Devils.

Hull KR produced a second half comeback to win 28-24 against Toulouse in the south of France. The French side were 12-0 up at half-time but second half efforts from Ryan Hall (2), George King, Jordan Abdull and Matty Storton saw the Robins take the spoils.

Lucas Albert, Mitch Garbutt and Paul Marcon (2) scored Toulouse’s tries.

Wigan ran in nine tries to thrash Wakefield 54-10 at the DW Stadium. Bevan French (2), Brad Singleton (2), Jai Field (2), Abbas Miski, Harry Smith and Cade Cust went over for the Warriors. Smith finished the game with a personal points tally of 22 after scoring a try and kicking nine goals.

Thomas Minns and Jacob Miller went over for Trinity.

Hull FC beat Warrington 18-16 at home in the late kick-off. Jamie Shaul, Brad Fash and Manu Ma’u went over for the Black and Whites.

Daryl Clark and Matty Ashton scored for the Wolves.
