Super League attendances: Wakefield and Wigan big winners as Huddersfield record new high

Round 22 of the Super League season delivered entertainment aplenty with a handful of tight encounters: but did the crowds reflect that?
Seven Super League games took place over the course of the weekend, including the headline act which saw Wakefield Trinity host Leeds Rhinos in a battle of the top two.
Here’s a look at every Super League attendance from the weekend just gone…
St Helens 18-32 Hull FC: 9,910
Super League’s action began at the BrewDog Stadium on Thursday night, with strugglers Hull FC claiming the scalp of Saints, who recorded their fourth-lowest league crowd of the season.
Underlining why this fixture shouldn’t have been scheduled for a Thursday, the same game at the same venue last August on a Friday evening drew an attendance of 12,005.
Castleford Tigers 0-44 Hull KR: Unknown
Without head coach Ryan Carr following a turbulent week, Cas were thumped on home soil by Hull KR on Friday night. At the time of writing, tor the second week running, the Tigers have not disclosed their attendance.
When Rovers made the trip to The Jungle last June, 7,650 spectators were present: but we’ve nothing to compare that to for 2026 currently.
Leigh Leopards 22-14 York Knights: 8,249
Leigh returned to winning ways on Friday night as they edged York in a tight contest, with the first-ever Super League meeting between the pair at the Leopards’ Den mid-table in terms of the hosts’ attendances this season.
The Knights’ last league visit to Leigh came in 2022, when they were thumped 100-4 in a Championship clash, attended by just 2,744. A few weeks after that, the pair met again in the play-off semi-finals and 3,329 were present for the then-Centurions’ 70-10 victory. When you compare those figures to the one recorded on Friday night, it evidences just how far both clubs have come.
Wakefield Trinity 22-24 Leeds Rhinos: 9,258
For the second time this season, it was a sell-out at Belle Vue on Friday night – not a spare seat to be head. Those present saw an absolute humdinger, with Leeds coming from 16-0 down to record a win of huge significance in the race for the League Leaders’ Shield: one of the games of the season.
9,252 were at Belle Vue for the same fixture last July, so kudos to Trinity for filling those extra six spots to make it a sell-out this time around!
Huddersfield Giants 42-20 Catalans Dragons: 8,934
Huddersfield provided free entry to Saturday afternoon’s game against Catalans, and registered by far their highest attendance of the season – trumping the 6,451 that were at the Accu Stadium for the Giants’ home opener earlier this year.
The big crowd were treated to a huge victory for Jim Lenihan’s side, but the most notable moment of the day came at half-time, when Huddersfield announced their move to Dewsbury Rams’ FLAIR Stadium for 2027 and potentially beyond.
The near 9,000-crowd can be celebrated even further when you consider that the Giants hosted French outfit Catalans twice in Super League last season due to the loop fixture system. Crowds of 3,638 and 3,245 were recorded.
Wigan Warriors 48-18 Toulouse Olympique: 16,889
By far and away the biggest attendance of the weekend came at The Brick Community Stadium on Saturday evening, where Wigan beat Toulouse comfortably in the end despite a tight first half.
The Warriors have only recorded one bigger crowd in 2026, and that came last month in the derby against Saints.
Notably, Saturday’s crowd was boosted by supporters of both Salford RLFC and Swinton, with a Championship derby between the pair – won by the Lions – taking place prior to the Super League game between Wigan and Toulouse in a double-header.
When Toulouse were last in Super League in 2022, they visited Wigan twice as part of the loop fixture system – crowds of 14,493 and 12,145 were recorded, so Saturday’s crowd was well up on both of those.
Bradford Bulls 4-42 Warrington Wolves: Unknown
The final Super League action of the weekend came at Odsal, where Warrington were comfortable winners over Bradford. At the time of writing, no attendance has been announced from Saturday evening’s game.
This was Wire’s first visit to Bradford since May 2014, when 6,173 were in attendance.
