Storm fine Cronk and Finch

Melbourne Storm has today fined Cooper Cronk and Brett Finch $5,000 each for their part in a minor incident in Byron Bay last night.

The players contacted the club this morning and notified officials that they had been cautioned on the spot by NSW Police for urinating in a public place.

While neither player was found to be intoxicated at the time of the incident, Storm CEO Brian Waldron said he is deeply disappointed with the actions of both players concerned.

“This type of behaviour is unacceptable,” Waldron said.

“As such we have decided to send the strongest message possible to our players by imposing the substantial fines.

“Our players must recognise that this type of irresponsible behaviour will not be condoned at our club.

“We have notified the NRL of this incident and they are supportive of the disciplinary action imposed”.

Storm has a bye this round and players are not required back at the club until Sunday afternoon.
