Stone thanks fans for their loyalty

Huddersfield boss Rick Stone has thanked Giants’ supporters for sticking with the team when they were struggling earlier in the season.

Friday’s 40-0 rout of Widnes leaves Huddersfield needing one more win to qualify for the Super 8s and Stone was satisfied with the night’s work.

“The scoreline was one we’re looking for, considering what we need from these last few fixtures,” he said.

“There was a lot of errors, from both teams to be honest, and there’s a few things we need to work on, but if we’d have been given a 40-0 result beforehand then we’d have taken that.

“I spoke to the boys after the game and we weren’t perfect. Our goal-line defence managed to do enough and repel whatever they had a crack with so that’s a positive.

“I think if we win next week and have a positive difference then that will hopefully secure a place. We’re happy to get over this one and dust ourselves down.

“It’s good to see the boys start to reward our fans who have been so loyal and consistent with us.

“There were periods where we haven’t performed as well as we should have and it’s nice to reward them at this stage.
