Stone looking up ahead of Super 8s

Rick Stone believes Huddersfield are still in with a chance of finishing in the top four.

Having guaranteed a place in the Super 8s and moved up to seventh in the league after beating Leigh Centurions 26-4 last week, Stone is hoping to keep the momentum going at Hull on Friday.

“For us the Super 8s starts this weekend – now that we’ve qualified there’s a chance for us to head north in the table and it’s a really important game against Hull,” Stone told the club’s official website.

“If we want to take part in the semi-final series, which is a couple of weeks away, the first couple of games are really important and if we can pick up some points there then we’ll give ourselves a chance.

“Hull have beaten some good sides at home this year and last year they were excellent. The consistency of their effort and their execution and how they went about things has definitely flowed into the side this year and they’re a formidable team.

“Hull have a few injuries which may take the wind out of their sails a little bit, but they’re a decent side and we respect what they’ve done and what they can do. We’re looking forward to the challenge on Friday.

“I think they’re fully aware of the competition and how close it is. Two competition points is very valuable for their hopes of making the top four, just like we have aspirations of also getting to that top four.

“I expect a competitive game and they will be up for it regardless of who plays for them.”
