The RFL have announced the Stobart Group will hold the naming rights for Super League from 2012.

The league will be known as Stobart Super League, and a new competition logo has been drawn up.

A statement from the Rugby Football League said: “The RFL confirms that Stobart Group has today agreed heads of terms to secure title naming rights to Rugby League’s Super League.”

Details of the new partnership will be announced on Wednesday. The announcement comes after Engage Mutual Assurance decided to end the seven year relationship with Super League at the end of last season.

Stobart are also the principle shirt sponsors of Widnes Vikings, and hold the naming rights to the home venue of the Vikings. The Vikings themselves are making a welcome return to Super League after a seven year absence having been relegated in 2005, and will kick off the new season against Wakefield on Friday, February 3.
