Swinton have added two new faces to their squad after signing the experienced pair of Richard Mervill and Tony Stewart.

Prop forward Mervill was most recently with Oldham but missed last season due to work commitments. He has also played for Keighley.

The versatile Stewart can cover a number of positions and was a member of the Lions squad in 2010 but left the club owing to work commitments. His previous clubs include St Helens, Salford and Leigh.

Director of rugby Paul Kidd said: “They have both been training with us for several weeks. They both wanted to get back into the game and have taken their opportunity.”

The duo impressed Swinton coach Steve McCormack and could feature in this weekend’s match with Gateshead.
