Leigh have appointed Steve Hill to their board of directors.

The 52-year-old will take up his duties with immediate effect to join chairman Mike Latham, chief executive Matthew Chantler, operations director Steve Openshaw and commercial director Jason Huyton on the five-man operational board.

Hill is the managing director of Hilltop Products, who have been prominent sponsors of the club in recent years.

On the appointment of Hill, Latham said: “I am delighted to announce that local businessman and passionate supporter Steve Hill has accepted the unanimous invitation of the board to become a director of Leigh Centurions.

“Derek [Beaumont] was keen that any void in him taking a back seat was replaced with another local passionate businessman with a rooted association to the club.

“Steve grew a relationship with us all over a number of years in his role as a sponsor so was the perfect candidate to fit that bill and to be invited to join the group, a view each of us shared.

“Steve shares our vision and passion for the club and its role as the focal point for the town of Leigh that we all love dearly.”
