St Helens half-back Rob Fairclough has joined Swinton until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old spent a month on loan at the Lions earlier this season and played two games, before returning to his parent club where he is yet to make his debut.

Fairclough went on England Academy’s tour of Australia in 2016 and is a former Blackbrook Royals junior.

Swinton coach Stuart Littler is pleased to have Fairclough at his disposal until the end of the season.

He said: “We are delighted to be able to finalise the loan signing of Rob Fairclough for the remainder of the season.

“Rob is a player who hugely impressed in his earlier stint with us before he picked up an unfortunate injury. We have kept liaison with both St Helens and Rob and now that Rob is fit to play we were keen to get a deal done.

“Rob goes straight into contention and will provide great competition for places in the weeks ahead.

“We have a small squad and are always on the lookout to add quality players. Rob is not just that, but he is a quality person as well so adds another dimension to our squad.”

Fairclough could make his second debut for the Lions when they host Featherstone Rovers in the Championship at Heywood Road on Sunday, 1:30pm kick-off.
