St Helens need to bounce back, admits Tommy Makinson

St Helens star Tommy Makinson says the team need to bounce back after suffering defeat at Wakefield.

Saints lost their second game of the season on Sunday as they fell short 24-20 against Wakefield Trinity at the Mobile Rocket Stadium.

And Makinson says the league leaders need to bounce back with a clinical display against Huddersfield Giants on Friday.

He told saintsrlfc.com: “It is always a big atmosphere at Wakefield and a tough game so you can’t start poorly and expect a result.

“Most of the things we did were poor; our defence, discipline and ball control. You can’t win games if you can’t keep hold of the ball and on the back of that the ruck was too quick.

“We now have to get back into training and put things right. We didn’t play well and that is on ourselves. Everyone wants to respond well after a loss and Huddersfield will be the same.

“Justin (Holbrook) will have us firing as we look to improve and bounce back this week. The Giants are a quality side so we have to be on it.”

Saints welcome Huddersfield to the Totally Wicked Stadium on Friday, 8pm kick-off.
