World champions St Helens continue with their success on and off the field following an announcement that the club will air their first-ever TV ad campaign.

The 30-second clip, promoting the club’s first home game of the 2023 Super League season, is expected to be broadcast across Sky channels in the local areas in Merseyside.

St Helens will host Leeds in Round Three of the competition on Friday, March 3.

The advert is planned to be screened from this week, with St Helens travelling to Castleford on Sunday. The Round Two fixture will be live on Channel 4, with a 1pm kick-off.

Mark Onion, head of marketing at Saints, commented: “We are always looking at new ways to showcase the Saints brand and to attract new fans to matches at the Totally Wicked Stadium.

“The home opener is always an incredible match day experience for fans to be part of, and this season against the Leeds Rhinos will be another huge night.”

Super League reaching new limits

The 2023 Super League season has hit new heights like never seen before, with a handful of the opening round fixtures providing spectacular pre-game and half-time entertainment.

Warrington’s home opener against Leeds saw up-and-coming English indie rock band The Lathums perform in the away stands. And at half-time, the Super League side also had an appearance from UK’s strongest man, Paul Smith. He made an attempt of breaking a new world record, but fell short on the night.

Meanwhile, Leigh owner Derek Beaumont promised a night to be remembered for their return to the top tier, and he certainly delivered.

English pop rock band Scouting for Girls performed a 40-minute set ahead of Leigh’s fixture with Salford. Their show was later met with a fire performance, the unveiling of club mascot Leeto and a firework display. It was, without doubt, Super League’s greatest-ever pre-match entertainment.

Meanwhile, Hull KR continued the show on Saturday with a pre-match performance from indie rock band The K’s at Craven Park.

The Earlestown-based band performed a three-song set live on the pitch before Hull KR’s clash with Wigan.

And singer Rozalla will headline Wigan’s first home game of the Super League season against Wakefield on Friday at the DW Stadium.

It’s certainly been an entertaining start to the season, with clubs looking to impress IMG and their future plans for the sport.
