Mark Percival say St Helens have proved they can win big games by coming out on top in the 2019 Super League Grand Final.

The Saints beat Salford 23-6 in the Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford on Saturday night.

And Percival is glad to have got rid of the “bottlers” tag associated to the club in recent times.

He said: “It’s one of the best feelings I’ve ever had.

“People have talked for a few years that we can’t win big games and to finally get it off our backs is the best feeling I’ve ever had in my life.

“We’ve been consistent all year and we didn’t want to slack off against Salford and come away as losers. It would have been a hard pill to swallow and it was good for our fans as well.

“You could see in the celebrations how much it means to everyone. It was more of a relief for everyone, we just couldn’t believe we won at full-time.”
