St Helens favourites to break in to the top four

James Gordon

Ahead of the start of the Super 8s this Thursday, St Helens are the favourites to break in to the current top four and secure a play-off place.

Runaway leaders Castleford (40pts) are all but guaranteed a place in the semi-finals, with Leeds (30pts) also in an enviable position.

There isn’t much to choose between Hull (27pts), Salford (26pts) and Wakefield (26pts) on the ladder either.

But it’s St Helens (25pts) who Betfred have as favourites (evens) to finish in the top four, alongside Castleford, Leeds and Hull.

A Castleford and Leeds Grand Final is rated as most likely (2/1), with the Tigers rated as evens to win Super League for the first time.

Despite their fine seasons to date, Salford (20/1) and Wakefield (50/1) are certainly outsiders to pull off rugby league’s very own “Leicester City” story.

Super League Grand Final Winner: Castleford (evens), Leeds (5/1), Hull (11/2), St Helens (8/1), Wigan (8/1), Salford (20/1), Wakefield (50/1), Huddersfield (66/1)

Super League Top 4 Finish: Leeds (1/10), Hull (1/2), St Helens (evens), Wigan (11/10), Salford (2/1), Wakefield (3/1), Huddersfield (20/1)
