St Helens academy player Joe Sharratt has been released from hospital and is recovering at home.

The 18-year-old was hospitalised following an assault by bouncers outside the Factory nightclub in Manchester city centre earlier this month.

Sharratt, a Lancashire academy representative, suffered a bleed on the brain but is now recovering from home with his family.

In a short statement released by St Helens, it read: “Pleased to report that Joe Sharratt was released from hospital yesterday and has returned home.

“He will continue to be monitored by Salford Royal and will continue his treatment at the Hospital from Monday. We once again thank you all for your support.”
