South Sydney coach Jason Taylor has confirmed that he will be without star fullback Rhys Wesser for up to three months after he underwent knee surgery.

Medical experts have told the 30-year-old former Penrith player that he needs between eight and twelve weeks to recover from surgery on his cartilage.

Rabbitohs boss Jason Taylor said Wesser would bounce back from the injury.

He told AAP: “It’s a shame that Rhys has suffered this sort of injury early on in his stint at the Rabbitohs.”

“But we know that he has the work ethic and the drive to get himself right and to get out on the field and perform at his best again.”
