Souths sign veteran Tuqiri

Head coach Michael Maguire has backed Lote Tuqiri to be an invaluable member of the Rabbitohs squad, after he signed on a one-year deal.

Tuquri, 34, recently returned from a spell with Irish rugby union side Leinster, and has expressed a desire to continue playing top level rugby league.

Maguire is delighted with the acquisition of the former Brisbane and Wests winger.

“Lote has played the game at the highest level for many years and the experience he will bring to our young backline will be invaluable,” said Maguire.

“We’re looking forward to having him join the side for pre-season training and seeing what influence he can have.”

Tuqiri has played 151 NRL matches so far in a career that has also seen him represent Australia in both codes.
