South Wales Scorpions player Ross Bevan has been banned from the sport for two years by a National Anti-Doping Panel.

This comes after traces of the anabolic androgenic steroid drostanolone were detected in a sample provided at an out-of-competition test conducted on February 9 2015.

Bevan, who had previously played rugby union for Nelson RFC before signing for the Scorpions in February 2015, had not yet played for the League 1 outfit.

He is banned from all competition from February 26 2015 until midnight on February 25 2017.
