Sonny Bill Williams “settling in really well” with Toronto Wolfpack

Toronto Wolfpack’s superstar signing Sonny Bill Williams is enjoying life with the Canadian club and the transition back in to rugby league.

The 34-year-old returned to rugby league from rugby union earlier in the off-season, having signed a two-year marquee contract with Toronto.

After playing his final game in rugby union for the All Blacks last year, Williams enjoyed a bit of pre-season training in Australia before recently linking up with his new team-mates.

He said: “I’m settling in really well and I’m enjoying being here. It’s a little colder than back home and it goes darker earlier but I’m enjoying it.

“The biggest thing is missing my family, my wife and my kids but the boys have been really welcoming and they’ve got a massive camaraderie here that is pretty special to see so it’s been fun.

“The training facilities here at pretty good and you can tell everyone cares about the team, players, coaches and staff so I’m enjoying being here.

“Training in Australia was awesome. I did some really good work, got the body feeling younger again and I’ve got a lot more of a range in motion now. This month is all about getting running back in to the system so I’ve been doing that for the last week or so. The transition will get there.

“I’m looking forward to understanding the systems and learning how the Toronto boys play but also sprinkling a little bit of my salt on top so it is exciting.”
