The 24-year-old was released by the Storm on Tuesday after choosing not to take up his player option for 2020.

Kata played 93 games for New Zealand Warriors after making his first-grade debut back n 2015 – but was unable to make his way into Craig Bellamy’s Storm outfit this season.

He said: “I’ve really enjoyed my time here at Storm and made some good friends over the past few months.

“However, another opportunity has come up that I’m keen to explore so I won’t be with the club next year.”
