Smith leaves Salford to join Trinity on loan

Salford Red Devils have revealed that halfback Tim Smith is joining Wakefield on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Smith was one of the earlier signings of the ‘Redevilution’, and his partnership with Rangi Chase was expected to help fire the team to glory.

That has not transpired, however, and it now looks as though young Frenchman Theo Fages will return to the team in Smith’s number 7 role.

“Tim is obviously a quality half-back but unfortunately he hasn’t settled into life here as well as everybody hoped,” said Red Devils coach Iestyn Harris.

“We have talked at length with the player and his agent and see his immediate future elsewhere. He returns to the Wildcats with our very best wishes and we thank him for his efforts this season to date.”
