Smith: Hull FC deserved it

Warrington coach Tony Smith says Hull FC deserved their win last night as the Wolves didn’t put any pressure on their opponents.

In a mistake riddled-affair, the Black and Whites edged it 12-19 at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

“We were trying to give each other chances, it was poor quality for a top of the table clash,” Smith said.

“They deserved it, they were slightly better than us in their execution.

“I thought our defence was pretty good but we just didn’t put any pressure on them.”

A late Gareth Ellis try and a Marc Sneyd drop goal was enought to give Hull FC the victory.

“Fortunately the season wasn’t won tonight…we didn’t deserve to go top on that performance,” Smith said.

“There was certainly a frustration at half time from both sides.

“Fortunately, the competition isn’t decided tonight but we certainly weren’t worthy of going back to the top.

“We’ll have another crack at some stage. We looked way off in terms of our skills.

“It’s courageous to play and put your body on the line, there’s some things that fall away and that’s our skills.
