SL Preview: Wigan v Huddersfield

Wigan coach Shaun Wane will want to put things right after last week’s draw to the 12 men of Widnes.

His team will have to cope without first-choice scrum-half Matty Smith, who has been banned for one game for kicking out at the end of the Widnes fixture.

Ryan Hampshire comes into the squad in place of Smith. Winger Josh Charnley is fit to play after recovering from a head knock.

Huddersfield lost 19-0 at home to Hull FC in their opening round fixture, and coach Paul Anderson has named the same 19-man squad as he did for that defeat.

Wigan Warriors (19-man squad): Bateman, Bowen, Burgess, Charnley, Clubb, Crosby, L. Farrell, C. Farrell, Gelling, Hampshire, McIlorum, O’Loughlin, Patrick, Powell, Sutton, Tautai, J. Tomkins, L. Tomkins, Williams.

Huddersfield Giants (19-man squad): McGillvary, Cudjoe, Wardle, Murphy, Brough, Robinson, Crabtree, Lunt, Huby, Ferres, Hughes, Bailey, Kopczak, Ta’ai, Broughton, Mullally, Ellis, Connor, Johnson.
