SL Preview: Wakefield v St Helens

Correspondent

Wakefield will be looking to bounce back from a heavy defeat at Widnes last week, as they welcome St Helens to the Rapid Solicitors Stadium.

French prop Mickael Simon is available to make his Super League debut for Trinity, but Scott Anderson misses out due to a knee injury.

St Helens will have to cope without stand-off Travis Burns and prop Kyle Amor, who are both suspended following incidents in last week’s game against Castleford.

Veteran utility player Paul Wellens returns to Keiron Cunningham‘s squad, as do Jordan Turner and young forward Andre Savelio.

Prediction: Saints have won all three of their Super League games so far, and there is no reason that their unbeaten run should not continue. Saints by at least 10 points.

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats (19-man squad): Arundel, Ashurst, Collis, Godinet, Hall, Kirmond, Lauitiiti, Lyne, McShane, Miller, Owen, Paea, Riley, Ryan, Scruton, Simon, D. Smith, T. Smith, Washbrook.

St Helens (19-man squad): Lomax, Makinson, Turner, Swift, Masoe, Roby, Vea, Wilkin, McCarthy-Scarsbrook, Walmsley, Flanagan, Hohaia, Percival, Thompson, Richards, Wellens, Greenwood, Dawson, Savelio.

Stats:

Paul Wellens is two tries away from 200 (198 for St Helens, 1998-2014).

Saints have won their last six Super League matches. Their last league defeat was 17-16 at Huddersfield on 12 September, 2014.
