SL Preview: Castleford v St Helens

Castleford will be buzzing going into this game, after their hardworking win over Leeds last week.

St Helens are on a winning streak of their own, however, and beat local rivals Wigan well last Friday.

The Tigers have Justin Carney back at last from his dislocated elbow, potentially adding more power and punch out wide to their attack.

Matt Cook also returns to the squad for the first time since April 6.

Joe Greenwood and Luke Thompson are incluided by Keiron Cunningham in his Saints squad, while Luke Walsh should also feature.

Castleford (19-man squad): Webster, Shenton, Carney, Roberts, Gale, Lynch, Milner, Millington, Holmes, Cook, Massey, Boyle, Moors, Moore, Solomona, Finn, McMeeken, Gibson, Bailey.

St Helens (19-man squad):
Turner, Jones, Swift, Burns, Walsh, Masoe, Roby, Amor, Wilkin, McCarthy-Scarsbrook, Walmsley, Flanagan, Percival, Thompson, Richards, Greenwood, Dawson, Savelio, McDonnell.

Stats:

Michael Shenton needs two tries to reach 150 for his career. Shenton has scored 125 tries for Castleford (2004-2010 & 2013-2015), to go with 20 for St Helens (2011-2012) and 3 for England (2008-2011 & 2014).

Jon Wilkin needs one try to reach a career century of touchdowns. His total of 99 has been scored as follows: 8 for Hull KR (2000-2002), 90 for St Helens (2003-2015) and one for England (2004-2005, 2008-2009 & 2011-2012). Wilkin also made 6 non-scoring appearances for Great Britain (2006-2007).

St Helens have won their last 15 meetings with Castleford. The Tigers’ last win against the Saints was a 30-24 home win on 6 April, 2008. St Helens have emerged victorious from six consecutive away visits to Castleford since then.

They have also won their last five matches. Their last defeat was 33-26 at Catalans Dragons on May 9.
