London Skolars have signed Harlequins back rower and 2009 reserve team Man of Steel Oliver Purslow.
Purslow, a former South London Storm Junior has been with the Quins for the past 5 years and has been through the RFL performance structure. He is a back row who has filled in at hooker in the past.
Head Coach James Massara said on the club’s official website: “Ollie is a great addition to the squad. He has some obvious leadership qualities having been captain at the Quins and is a handful in both attack and defense. I know he has turned down some opportunities to play elsewhere in order to stay in London and be a part of what we are building here.’
Purslow added: “I am excited by the fresh challenge of playing for the Skolars. Playing for a London club means a lot to me and I have turned down offers from France and up North because I believe we have a team capable of success down here. London is a great place to be and Rugby League is a big thing down here now.”
Meanwhile, the Skolars have also signed Australian full back Joshua Welsh, 23, from local amateur side South London Storm.
