Leeds skipper Kevin Sinfield has paid tribute to team-mate Carl Ablett, who has been granted a testimonial by the RFL this week.

Ablett has played for his hometown club for over a decade, and Sinfield believes that the back rower has been instrumental to the team’s success over the last 10 years or so.

“Carl has been an integral part of our success over the last decade,” said Sinfield.

“He has been selfless in his contribution to the team; whether he has been asked to play in the heat of the forwards or at centre on the biggest of stages, he has always risen to the challenge and helped get us over the line.

“He has scored tries in Grand Finals, Challenge Cup Finals and World Club clashes but remains the same person who walked into the club as a teenager all those years ago.

“He is a very modest and a quiet individual in public however I am sure the Leeds Rhinos fans will show their appreciation for him during his testimonial and let him know exactly how much their appreciate his efforts in blue and amber.”
