Dewsbury have signed half-back Simon Brown for the 2019 season.

The 29-year-old has penned a one-year deal with the Rams following two years with Sheffield Eagles.

Brown came through the academy at Leeds Rhinos, before enjoying spells in the lower tiers with Doncaster, York City Knights, Halifax, Batley Bulldogs, Hunslet and Sheffield.

On joining the Rams, Brown said: “Dewsbury have got great support and it is an historic club, and every time you play there, it is a tough game to play in.

“It is definitely a club with ambition, and with Lee [Greenwood] coming in, he is someone who can really drive that ambition.

“I have worked with Lee before, so he called me, we had a quick chat and the deal was done to be honest.

“I want to be the guy that gets us around the field. I might not do spectacular things, but I will manage a game and use my kicking game and organisational skills to help the team out as much as I can.”

On signing Brown, Dewsbury coach Lee Greenwood commented: “I am really pleased to get Simon in, he knows the game inside and out and he will be an important player for us.

“He adds quality competition in the half-back positions and will help the younger lads in our squad.”
