Richard Silverwood has been confirmed as the referee for the 2010 Carnegie Challenge Cup final on Saturday August 28 between Leeds Rhinos and Warrington Wolves at Wembley Stadium.

Silverwood has previous experience in Challenge Cup finals after refereeing St Helens’s 41-12 victory over Huddersfield Giants in 2006. He was also reserve referee for last year’s Carnegie Challenge Cup final which saw this year’s finalists Warrington Wolves raising the famous trophy.

“I am honoured to be given the opportunity to referee the final and I am looking forward to officiating for the first time at Wembley,” said Silverwood.

“I have refereed in many big games during my career, including internationals and World Club Challenges, but the Challenge Cup final is something special.”

Silverwood will be joined by touch-judges Tony Martin and Robert Hicks. Assisting Silverwood as video referee will be Ian Smith and match commissioner will be Dave Campbell.

The reserve referee is Phil Bentham with Clint Sharrad as the reserve touch-judge.
