Sheffield Eagles have confirmed that they have signed utility forward Mark James from Featherstone Rovers.

The 28-year-old Welsh international has inked a two-year deal.

“Matt is an exciting talent, he has that explosiveness that gets fans out of their seats and we are pleased to have him here,” Eagles director of rugby Mark Aston told www.sheffieldeagles.com.

“There is no doubt for me that he is a gifted lad, and we think he will shine in our full-time environment. There is still plenty to come from Matt and he showed his capabilities with a really strong finish to last season with Featherstone Rovers.

“We think his all round game will improve with us, working day in, day out and that includes his fitness too.

“His experience and knowledge of the game will be of huge benefit to some of the younger lads we have here, we are delighted to have him.

“We have signed a lot of young lads who we think will get better, and with the likes of Matt we have someone with an experienced head who are still young themselves and can still improve too.

“They can also lend their vast knowledge of the game to the lads just starting out. It really is an exciting blend that we are putting together.”
