Sheffield sign Robbie Ward from Dewsbury

Sheffield have signed hooker Robbie Ward on a two-year deal from Dewsbury.

The 24-year-old came through the ranks at Leeds before joining Dewsbury in 2017, where he made 54 appearances.

Ward said: “I was liking the stuff Mark [Aston, coach] was saying about the club, especially after winning the 1895 Cup and finishing quite high in the table.

“Mark was keen to get me signed up, I’ve heard good things about him and also about the club. When the deal was on the table, I snatched his hand off really.

“I have been signing one-season deals for the last three years so you know you’re there for that year but then you wonder, around halfway through, if you’re going to be without a club come the end.

“To know I am here for two years, I can get my head down and I won’t be going anywhere.”
