Sheffield have signed Leeds youngster Colton Roche on a one-year deal.

Roche, 19, can play anywhere in the pack or at centre, and spent time on a dual-registration deal with Oldham in 2012.

Eagles head coach Mark Aston said: “I’m highly delighted Colton has decided to join the Eagles for next season, he’s a big, powerful player who I believe has a big future in the game.

“I’m sure one day he will be playing in the Super League and hopefully that will be with us here at Sheffield Eagles.

“It shows again just what a good system we have got in place at the club for developing young talent and excellent young players like Roche are coming to us because of that.”

Roche signed for the Leeds academy in 2009 having previously played for Headingley Hawks, and has won representative honours with Yorkshire in 2008 and England Under 16s in 2009.
