Sheffield set for Barrow test

Sheffield Eagles forward Alex Szostak (knee) faces a late fitness test but Jonny Woodcock and Ashley Thackeray remain sidelined.

Sheffield have not played since their 24-14 victory at Whitehaven 10 days ago but with only seven games left to secure their Co-operative Championship play-off place, coach Mark Aston is keen to get back to action.

Aston said: “We have a testing few weeks ahead. It’s a time for looking forward, learning from our mistakes and being positive.

“We’re still very much in the mix-up for the Championship play-offs.”

He added: “I know that our supporters and everyone involved at the club are disappointed by some of the results this season.

“There have been games we should have won, but we’re only just over half way in the Championship season and there’s a lot still to be played for and decided.”

Raiders will be without experienced loose forward Rob Roberts, who was given a five-match suspension by the RFL’s disciplinary committee on Tuesday night.
