Sheffield on ground hunt

Sheffield Eagles are on the hunt for a new home ground and have approached local football clubs for their help.

Acting Eagles CEO Mark Aston has asked both Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday about use of their stadiums. The Eagles played some games at Bramall Lane, including in the Super 8s, in 2015.

“We would love some help from the football clubs” Aston told The Sheffield Star.

“Kevin McCabe has helped us out in the past, and we need to play in Sheffield this year. We possibly won’t be able to play at Bawtry Road.

“The last thing we want to do is go out of the city again, but if it is a must then that’s what we’ll do.

“I’d like to think that our friends at United and Wednesday might look at us and say we have a Desso (partly artificial) pitch, what is the worst that can happen?

“If they say we can play half the games at one place and half at the other, then that would be better than playing out of the city for me.”

The Eagles have also had talks with Dewsbury about using the Tetley’s Stadium.
