Sheffield Eagles coach Mark Aston has signed young James Davey on a dual registration.

The signing will freshen up Aston’s squad with Davey bringing Super League experience in the form of Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.

The Wildcat is the first loan signing as the Eagles boss hopes the signing will add searing pace to the squad in their aim to secure a top three finish.

Aston said, “James has played a number of Super League games. He’s only a slight young man but he’s quick, and there’s something about him. There’s tempo in his game and that’s what we need.”

The hooker will be included in Aston’s 17-man team against York Knights tonight where a victory could propel them to third in the Co-operative Championship.
