Sheffield Eagles have confirmed that Italian international Ben Masulino will be part of their squad for 2015.

The Australian-born back rower or centre joins the Steel City side from Barrow Raiders.

He has played in the NRL Under-20s competition with St George-Illawarra Dragons, and has also spent time with Manly in the New South Wales Cup.

The 21-year-old is optimistic that time with the Eagles will help him step up to the next level as a player.

“I am really excited and looking forward to the next chapter of my rugby league career with the Sheffield Eagles,” he said.

“I have heard a lot of good and positive things about the Eagles and their organisation.  I am also looking forward to experiencing what the city of Sheffield and its people and community have to offer.

“I know the Eagles have had a lot of success over the past few years and I am very keen to be a part of the winning ways of the club.

“I feel that I will bring to the team a hard working attitude, competitiveness and professionalism towards training and playing.

“My goal coming over to Sheffield is to do everything I can to be a part of the 17 who play on Sundays and continue my career at the highest level possible in the UK.”

Eagles head coach Mark Aston is delighted to have added a plyer of such calibre to his squad for next season.

“We are delighted that Ben has chosen to join us here at the Eagles,” he said.

“He is a wide running, attacking back rower who has come through a good system in Australia.

“He has a good attitude towards the game and I am very much looking forward to working with him.”
