Sheens wants a fast start against Bulls

Hull KR boss Tim Sheens wants a quick start from his team when they meet Bradford at the Summer Bash in Blackpool on Saturday.

Rovers stumbled out of the blocks at home to Swinton last weekend before going on to win 42-18 and Sheens has urged his players to come out firing against the Bulls.

“A few of the players have played in this before and a lot more of them have played in the Magic Weekend,” he told the club’s official website.

“It’s a good concept to have all of the games in the one place and if it runs smoothly and the matches are of a strong standard, then it’s a good event.

“That was pretty much the case at Magic Weekend this year and there were some surprises up there too. Nobody would have predicted St Helens beating Hull FC, let alone by that scoreline.

“It goes to show what can happen, particularly at these sorts of events, and St Helens’ big-game players like James Roby really stepped up.

“That’s what we’ve got to be looking out for – that there’s no surprises against us on Saturday. We need a much better start this week because we can’t afford to let Bradford get a jump on us.

“They’ve got a sprinkling of really experienced, big game players of their own and they’ll take full advantage of that if we do.

“We’ll have 4,000 fans there on Saturday so there’ll be a good atmosphere, but Bradford will enjoy that as well. As always, we need to be well prepared and respectful of the opposition.”
