Sheens to retain Kangaroos job

Tim Sheens is set to retain the Australian coaching job, despite losing out to New Zealand in last year’s Four Nations final.

The veteran coach has been in charge of the national side since 2009 after taking over from Ricky Stuart but has been under pressure since losing out to the Kiwis.

But Sheens was bullish about speculation suggesting that he would be ousted from the national set-up.

“I’ve been offered the job and my job is to get on with it – not worry about what some people might say,” Sheens told the Daily Telegraph.

Both Stuart and Wayne Bennett before him were forced out after poor results in the 2008 World Cup Final and the 2005 Tri Nations respectively

“The reality is the rugby league world expects us to be No. 1,” Sheens said.
