Sheens: There’s still a lot of work to be done

Hull KR boss Tim Sheens has urged his squad to continue to work hard as they chase promotion back to the top flight.

The Championship leaders head into Sunday’s home game against Rochdale full of confidence after last week’s Challenge Cup victory over Leigh, but Sheens is keen for his players to maintain their high standards.

“There’s still a lot of work to be done to get to where we want to be and my attitude has always been to focus on what’s immediately in front of you,” he told the club’s official website.

“We won last week but you’ve got to start again every match and that means working hard to beat each team you come up against, whether they be in the Super League or the Championship.

“We need to concentrate on getting the job done against Rochdale because we were very scratchy over at their place earlier in the season and we’ve had some other scratchy performances here at home before the Easter period.

“The focus this week is therefore on how we perform tomorrow. I don’t expect us to have the same mentality we did against Leigh as it’s a different scenario.

“You can’t always be up for it to the same extent, it just doesn’t work like that, so as a coach you need to find new little ways to spark the players and get a response.

“We’ll have a few players come back into the side which will help freshen things up, but the Championship is different to the cup, it’s our bread and butter and we need to be focused.

“We’ve lost a game now (against Toulouse), but we don’t want to lose anymore and we need to start strongly against Rochdale.

“We need to be on our game and be 100 percent committed to the tough parts of the game like defence and kick-chase. If you see that as a coach, then you know the team are switched on.”
