Sheens: Manly feud ‘garbage’

Media reports of ill-feeling between Wests Tigers and Manly ahead of Friday night’s clash have been dismissed as ‘garbage’ by Tim Sheens.

Tigers coach Sheens blamed the media for putting unnecessary emphasis on the rivalry between the two clubs, despite several spiteful encounters in recent seasons.

“The media is trying to find a reason to build this game up,’’ Sheens said.

“I can’t believe some of the things I’ve read but I’m not going to add fuel to it. It’s garbage.”

The Tigers enter the game at Bluetongue Stadium on the back of consecutive victories against North Queensland and the Roosters while Manly have lost justtwo of their last 11 matches.

Added Sheens: “It will be a good game of footy. That’s all we are looking forward to.”

The two Clubs have clashed just once at Gosford with Manly winning 38-20 in the corresponding game there last season.

Manly have won six of the past 10 matches against Wests Tigers. The Sea Eagles have also won 9 of the 15 matches between the two clubs.
