Australian coach Tim Sheens is the latest to be linked with a move to the Salford City Reds following the sacking of Phil Veivers.

Sheens, 62 is free of NRL commitments after he departed from the West Tigers in September and reports are emerging he could meet with the Reds management.

Salford owner Dr Marwan Koukash has admitted he wants to bring the “very best” to the club in terms of players and staff.

Sheens recently said he would look into coaching in the Super League saying: “I’ve made it clear I will be looking to coach again, whether that’s in Australia or England.

“I will have to see what might be available but all my focus at the moment is on preparing the national team. I don’t want to take my eye off the ball”.
