Sheens and Salford thinking positively

Salford director of rugby Tim Sheens is trying to keep his team positive as they head into The Qualifiers section of the Super 8s.

The Red Devils have endued a torrid season in 2015, and look vulnerable as they prepare to take on the other three bottom clubs in Super League, plus the top four from the Championship.

Protecting their Super League status is, of course, vitally important for the future of the club.

“It’s a new competition for us and it’s a competition we want to win so our attitude is to go out and play every game to win,” Sheens told the Manchester Evening News.

“I understand relegation is there but we want to win it, and we want another shot at Hull KR, Widnes and Leigh so there are plenty of challenges.

“We want to do well in the middle eights, not just for our confidence but we’re starting to talk about recruitment for next year.

“It’s a big seven or eight weeks for the players at the club to impress the coaches, myself and (owner) Marwan Koukash about who’s going to be here next year.”
