Shaun Leaf back at Doncaster

Former Doncaster captain Shaun Leaf has re-joined the club, after his 18-month ban for betting against them expired.

Leaf, 28, was banned by the RFL after he was caught placing money on his team to be beaten by Wakefield by more than 38 points in the 2011 Challenge Cup.

However, his ban was up earlier this month, and he took part in the Dons pre-season training walk from Scarborough to Whitby last weekend, and the club have expressed their delight at his return.

Dons Head Coach Tony Miller said: “I’m very pleased to have Shaun back at the club and he’ll be a welcome addition to our squad.

“I’m looking forward to working with him again as he attempts to rebuild his rugby league career.”

A PE teacher, Leaf has recently been playing rugby union for Hull Ionians.
